COVID-19 Operational Changes

We are looking forward to welcoming you back to The Bildeston Crown. Your health and well-being and that of our staff is our top priority and we’re making every effort to create the safest experience for everyone.

A few things have changed since you last visited, here is what we think you need to know:

Prior to your visit, we need to collect some additional contact details and health information from you and everyone you visit us with for the Government’s Track & Trace System.

This information will be automatically deleted after 21 days.

Please provide this information through our online Booking Questionnaire. If you are unable to do this before your visit, we will collect it from you when you enter.

Our new procedures

  • Please enter only by the front door.
  • Whilst you are with us, we ask that you recognise the social distancing rules that are still in place of one metre plus; keeping and giving as much space around you as you can.
  • We are operating an at table service only in all our areas and there will be no serving of drinks from the Bars. Bar only service will be served on the terrace at the side of the bar. We have additional seating in the gardens for those dining with us. Rather than remove tables inside, we have created more space between them and we will have unused tables next to used, to create additional space around each table.
  • Our staff will wear black gloves. Masks will be worn as a matter of choice. We encourage contactless payments up to £45 and no cash. Our card machines will be sanitised before and after use by each guest and staff member.
  • We have sanitiser units at a number of points including entry and we ask you to use them when you see them and particularly on entry to the building.
  • We will be using disposable napkins and one-use menus.
  • Only essential members of staff will be back so please bear with us.
  • Each member of staff will have their own areas to work such as bar, restaurant, kitchen, housekeeping and cleaning and will be responsible for keeping everyone safe and socially distanced in these areas.
  • We will be operating a one-way system to minimise contact with other people. Please enter only by the front door and use the hand sanitiser at the entrance. We will meet you, make sure we have all the information we need, and guide you to your seating area. All food and drink orders will be taken at your table and delivered to you.

Hotel Guests

If you are staying with us, you will be allocated the same table for dining throughout your stay and we ask that you open all windows to your room on departure to aid ventilation. Rooms will be used on a rotational basis to allow time for cleaning and leaving between guests. Please use your en-suite facilities in your room rather than the communal toilet areas.

Please be aware that specific rooms can only be requested, this does not guarantee the room will be available.

Toilets

The ladies and gents will be cleaned and checked every 20 minutes. Please allow people to exit before you enter, use the sanitisers on your way in and your way out and shut the lid before flushing!

Thorough Risk Assessment

This Risk Assessment will be regularly reviewed in line with the governments ongoing guidance.

  • We have recruited the help of an independent COVID-19 risk assessor who has assessed and advised on all areas.
  • All staff have been re-trained by our chemical supplier. This training has included additional COVID-19 guidelines and the awarding of a certificate.
  • We have staff COVID-19 health checks and monitoring in place. Every member of staff is required to complete a monitoring form before their shift starts.
  • We have deep cleaned and sanitised all of our premises and this will continue throughout your visit and stay with us using approved anti-viral sprays and sanitisers.
  • We operate shift patterns so the same staff can work together in bubbles.

AA COVID-19 Confident

On 9th July 2020 we signed up to the AA Covid Confident Charter.

The accreditation will indicate to customers that an establishment has in place the necessary risk assessment, safety measures and staff training to reopen safely, in line with the UK’s respective government and trade association guidelines, as they are published.

To be eligible for the scheme, establishments signing up must meet the AA’s key COVID-specific criteria:

  • Supply evidence of a completed risk assessment document.
  • Provide clear evidence that relevant safety procedures and measures are in place.
  • Showing that staff training has occurred.

We feel ready for receiving guests again after such a long time away.
