To help you plan your one-night stay we have listed a few of our favourite places so that you can make the most of your stay with us!
Explore our very own Nedging Hall Estate
You needn’t travel far, as The Crown is in the heart of the picturesque Nedging Hall Estate. Containing The Lindsey Rose pub, Mauldons Brewery & The Brewery Tap. The Lindsey Rose is just within walking distance and one of the best ways to get there is to follow our Pub to Pub Walk that leads past Bildeston’s St Mary Magdelene Church, through Chelsworth and across gorgeous countryside.
Slightly further afield in Sudbury is the home of our Mauldons’ beer; traditional reel ales. Being the oldest brewery in Suffolk, our recipes have been refined to perfection and are all available to try at either the Brewery or The Tap.
Wander round our beautiful Local Towns
We are proud of our Suffolk towns and their significant influence on England’s history. Our Wool Towns are a particular pride, with Lavenham, Long Melford & Hadleigh being pioneering towns in the 15th century. Each one offers their own unique charm with plenty of shops offering a distinctive range of gifts, timber-frame homes with the well-renowned ‘Suffolk Pink’ and so much more!
While not as well-linked to the Suffolk Wool trade, our array of Market Towns are not to be dismissed either! With other appealing destinations to explore, such as Bury St Edmund’s Abbey Gardens & Cathedral, Framlingham’s ‘Castle on the Hill’, or Sudbury’s Water extensive Water Meadows, the home to much of our wildlife.
These towns are the perfect way to get a feel for the Suffolk way of life...
Discover our History & Heritage
From museums to stately homes, there are plenty of ways to deepen your understanding of the local history. Ickworth House, Kentwell Hall & Melford Hall are astounding feats of architecture, only comparable to the landscape that surrounds them.
Moyse’s Hall & The Suffolk Food Museum are always hosting events, from daily talks & tours to exclusive exhibitions. There is plenty to learn and plenty to enjoy.
Nature is on our doorstep
It would have to be a crime to ignore the hills, trees, and running rivers that form a real-life painting before our eyes. Famous painter John Constable found a particular beauty within the Flatford landscape, an area now also referred to as ‘Constable Country’ due to the influential artistry he produced.
Today, centuries on, the landscape still produces the same breathtaking effect, along with so many other areas of Suffolk, including Lackford Lakes, Dunwich Heath, Snape Maltings & many other Nature Reserves.
Believe it or not, but this is merely a fraction of what Suffolk has to offer... But for a 48-hour stay there is plenty to fill your time and give you the most fulfilling short getaway. Though we hope that this will tempt you to stay just that bit longer with us...
