Vote for us – Best Local Restaurant

The Good Food Guide are pulling together the best loca restaurants. A great Local Restaurant should be somewhere you keep coming back to. Somewhere that gets it right every time. It’s a restaurant that has excellent food using local suppliers and a wonderfully warm welcome.

Here's why we think you should vote The Crown...

The Crown, with its history and heritage in the local area, welcomes everyone through the doors. You’ll find characterful and cosy dog-friendly bars oozing Suffolk country charm. You’ll be invited in to roaring fires, extensive menus and a bar stocked with local Mauldons ales and fine wines.

Fabulous Food

With a focus on estate to plate dining from the gardens at Nedging Hall, our team are committed to cooking up the plentiful supply of Suffolk produce, from wild game sourced on the estate to fresh fish from the Suffolk coast. The Crown is one of the best places to enjoy a relaxed long lunch, a sumptuous supper or a special celebration

Outstanding Team

The team are our greatest asset. They welcome guests, remember their names, their favourite food or beverage, and when the team do not yet know these things, it is a priority to learn them. Small but impactful actions such as opening the door or greeting with a smile are unconscious actions. The Crown have ingrained this graciousness and hospitality into every member of the team, allowing it to evolve into a second nature that ensures great service is consistently delivered.

Award-winning

Last year, the team’s dedication was recognised in with the Environmental and Sustainability of East Anglia Award 2024. We have also recently won Best Pub at the Eat Game awards 2025, recognising our use of game from the estate.

Ethical Dining

Our dedicated team of gardeners ensure they have the best homegrown produce across the whole year at Nedging Hall. The venison you’ll find on the menu is supplied by the estate. This and the fruit and vegetables grown in the kitchen garden saw the birth of their ‘estate to plate’ ethos. What they don’t grow themselves, they source ultra-locally. You’ll find Suffolk Gin from down the road and even their wild mushrooms are sourced just down the road in Hadleigh from a company called Fabulous Fungi. Their food is about using the incredible ingredients which are right on the doorstep.
